A genial composer, and a real innovator, not only for those who love experimentalism. Back in the 1950's, he even built himself a number of new instruments. Unlike what happens too often by too many other contemporary composers, here you still find music, not just a magmatic discharge of catch-as-catch-can noises and silence.
The bonus album and the 8 page book show and explain the genesis and the importance of each single instrument, with extended musical example for each of them. Really fantastic. After Professor Partch's teachings, in the 50's, Bobby Brown did something similar, in a shorter scale, some years later.
There are two extremely interesting and beautiful films, which unfortunately I can't upload here: one in B/W and one in colours, where HP and other musicians perform these musics and talk about this kind of experimentalism. Very much recommended!
